As an
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will play a vital role
in the success of our operations at the Siemens Energy, Inc. Gibsonton, FL
facility. In this role, you will lead and/or support activities to prevent
work-related injuries and illness, protect the environment and assure
compliance with EHS laws and regulations. The EHS Specialist is expected to
support and promote EHS initiatives and the company’s long-term strategy for
sustainability, energy efficiency, and waste reduction.
How You’ll Make an Impact
● Support
strategy initiatives for continual improvement of EHS management system.
Identify long term strategic action plans.
● Conduct
safety meetings, orientations, and EHS training to assure employees
understand the hazards associated with the scope of work and maintain the
records of the aforementioned.
● Lead
site project safety programs including Safety Meetings, Lock-Out-Tag-Out
(LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Rigging & Lifting,
Scaffolding & Ladders, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials, and Material
Handling
● Support
the contractor pre-qualification process and own the onsite contractor safety
program.
● Assist
in coordinating activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal,
state, and local regulations related to environmental, health and safety
requirements.
● Lead
accident investigation process and root cause analysis including tracking and
recording keeping requirements.
● Regularly
conduct site safety assessment/audits including tracking and reporting
corrective action status.
● Provie
technical guidance to employees regarding environment, health and safety
related issues or concerns, and regulatory compliance
● Maintain
and improve safe work standards and practices.
What You Bring
●
BS/BA in related sub area (EHS, Engineering) or advance degree, or
equivalent combination of education and experience
●
3 or more years in a direct Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) role
associated with manufacturing.
●
Demonstrated knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
and its implementation
●
Experience in root cause assessments, hazardous waste management,
training, quality, and customer interfaces highly desired.
●
Subject matter expertise or knowledge in high-risk activities such as:
Powered Industrial Trucks, Machine Guarding and Interlocks, Energy Isolation
& Lock out/ Tag out and Elevated Work.
● Applicants must be legally authorized for
employment in the United States without need for current or future
employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current
visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
