The Role
As a Maintenance Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in the production line team. You’ll be the lead Maintenance Engineer for an area and be part of a leadership team of 3 (Process Lead, Maintenance Lead and Line Lead).
The Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing and delivering defined engineering processes within your area. These processes are primarily designed to reduce machine stoppages and ensure the correct level of asset care and maintenance strategy is deployed to each equipment item. This will be achieved by leading and coaching the entire area team to deliver true Autonomous Maintenance. As part of the leadership team for your area, you’ll review losses within the area, develop action plans and deliver sustained improvement results.
You will be a crucial resource to ensure that the correct level of engineering capability is achieved within the team to progress our zero loss journey. This role will also require to you play a key role in the delivery of your own improvement initiatives along with larger capital projects for your area.
You’ll be an excellent coach and motivator, with significant, demonstrable experience in this area.
Some of your day-to-day/regular activities will include:
- Maintenance Planning and Scheduling DMs (Daily Maintenance) for the lines
- Review of all breakdowns and deploy the appropriate countermeasure to prevent reoccurrence.
- Oversee the Maintenance Planning for your area
- Provide updates during DDS (Daily Direction Setting meeting) to review breakdowns and Maintenance plans from the last 24hrs
- Prepare and lead the scheduling of the maintenance work for the next week during the weekly maintenance meeting
- Work with other Maintenance Leads to support the Progressive Maintenance (PM) Pillar by updating key KPI’s and attending Pillar meetings.
- Prepare the schedules for monthly maintenance work as dictated by the annual maintenance plan and as previously identified during the monthly meeting
- Assist the Autonomous Maintenance (AM) Pillar by building capability within our daily management systems. Examples of this are C.I.L’s (Clean, Inspect, Lubricate), Defect Hanling & Centrelines.
- Developing coaching plans to improve your area team’s capability to deliver the correct levels of maintenance.

The Candidate:
In order to be successful in the role, you’ll need certain skills, experience and knowledge, including:
- A minimum level 3 electrical qualification with hands on experience (Essential)
- HNC/HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline (ideally with an electrical bias) – (Highly desirable)
- Previously worked with a TPM /RCM maintenance environment (Highly desirable)
- Proven strong engineering and problem-solving skills – (Essential)
- Experience of utilising Lean tools and techniques – (Highly desirable)
- Previous coaching experience (Highly desirable)
