Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer – Thermal

Salary: Circa £55,000 depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Conducting peer reviews and verifying tasks, ensuring adherence to engineering standards
- Identifying and resolving product lifecycle issues, leading change activities to maintain compliance
- Establishing and managing qualification requirements during build, test, and commissioning, ensuring Safety Case integrity and robust supporting documentation
- Serving as subject matter expert, coaching and mentoring team members and upholding engineering excellence
- Collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to optimise thermal design of radar components
- Leading development and validation of thermal models to predict performance under varied conditions
Your skills and experiences:
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and or proven experience
- Expertise in heat transfer principles, fluid mechanics, or thermodynamics
- Proven experience in designing and testing thermal systems for electronic components and assemblies
- Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and leading engineering teams to achieve technical excellence

The Mechanical Engineering Radar team:
As you engage with engineering functions across the business, as our team covers the whole engineering lifecycle using the latest cutting-edge technology, becoming a member of the Mechanical Engineering Radar team will provide you with significant exposure inside the larger BAE Systems organisation.
BAE Systems Naval Radar provides Radar products and support services to a diverse range of customers worldwide. This role will provide engineering management support as part of a team delivering capability upgrades to the Royal Navy over the next 10 years. You will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge, with the potential to lead into more senior positions within a global business.
