Gas Services
A Snapshot of Your Day
Power plants are amongst the most complex and complicated machines in the world. They ensure the reliable supply with electrical energy and steam for district heating. The Machines are re-worked and improved, but we do the software improvements. With our advanced control concepts we tune those complex machines to reduce emissions and enable them for faster load changes, which again helps to stabilize our grids.
How do we do it?
Analysing the plants is always first. Check for optimization potential. Then we check also the existing logics and during an engineering phase we implement our advanced logics, based on which we do a subsequent site commissioning. We are a team, working mainly in an office in Karlsruhe, but also in other locations, where we do the engineering. Site work is usually done by a team of one Master and one “Student”, while also Masters can be students to share know how and experience. The commissioning phases are usually between one to four weeks and the plants that we work on are all around the world.
So do you know power plants already or are you curious about power plant processes? Do you know closed loop control concepts? Do you have an intrinsic motivation, but you still like to work with teammates? Is Travelling to new countries appealing for you? This might be the right job for you!
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Technical project execution for optimization projects, including: technical clarification conduct site assessments to identify technical and economic potentials for process control improvements
- Development of control and optimization concepts, specification of acceptance criteria and performance guarantees as well as basic and detail engineering in SPPA-T3000 function diagrams
- Planning of work packages, estimate efforts and calculate costs
- 3rd party DCS interface definition and red marks as well as creation of dynamic simulation models for testing
- Technical cooperation in international teams, customer relationship and expectation management as well as control module testing, if necessary, Factory Acceptance Test
- Monitoring and reporting of budget and work progress, Commissioning on site and Site Acceptance Test
What You Bring
- Bachelor or Master degree in process engineering or mechanical engineering more than 5 years project execution including on-site commissioning
- Process engineering and closed-loop control knowledge, especially in power plant operation and systems
- Knowledge in thermodynamics, combustion processes, gas turbines, water steam cycle of energy processes helpful
- Knowledge in primary/secondary frequency control for electrical grids helpful
- Profound I&C/DCS automation software engineering skills, ideally in Siemens SPPA-T3000
- Evaluation of technical documents (e.g., P&IDs, Heat Flow Diagrams, I&C Overviews), process data / knowledge about data analysis methods and contractual specifications (e.g., contracts, customer specifications, technical standards)
- Basic Project Management skills, Structured, analytical thinking and ability to work target oriented in an autonomous and systematic way
- Willingness to travel internationally and openness for international and intercultural cooperation
