    The Transport Manager will ensure that the vehicle fleet and staff transport service remain safe, compliant, efficient, and cost-effective. This is a highly visible delivery role which requires an individual who can effectively manage their team in a fast-paced environment to deliver excellent customer experience.

    Responsibilities

    • To manage the pickup/drop off service using Prior’s Court vehicles on an agreed route for staff of the foundation, arriving on time at the correct locations and bringing them to their place of employment promptly and reliably
    • To line manage drivers and allocate the staff transport driver rota, arrange, or cover as required, including any annual leave or sickness and performance manage the team
    • To respond to any service user queries, tracking and reviewing routes, making recommendation for service improvements
    • To keep all service users informed of any changes or variations to the service
    • To manage the digital booking systems and delivery of buses in preparation for any off-site trips
    • To ensure safe service, driving within legal limitations and ensuring passenger safety and comfort as well as ensuring their adherence to guidelines (use of seatbelts, no smoking)
    • To ensure all drivers represent Priors Court Foundation well by parking appropriately, respecting other road users and pedestrians and not obstructing traffic
    • To ensure the agreed vehicle checks have been completed
    • To ensure all vehicles are maintenance daily, including the replenishment of consumables such as windscreen wash or fuel, ensuring that the vehicle is roadworthy prior to each journey
    • To ensure all vehicles are kept clean and tidy vehicle before and after each service
    • To report any accidents immediately and follow the terms of our vehicle insurance as well as drive within the parameters of any relevant permits
    • Report any driving convictions or penalties without delay to the HR Department and your Line Manager
    • Report any medical illness or medications that may affect staff ability to drive without delay to HR and you Line Manager
    • To ensure all drivers provide a friendly welcome and comfortable journey to new and current staff
    • To maintain logs for mileage and collections times as well as hours worked for payroll purposes
    • To ensure that vehicles are left secure when unattended
    • To ensure the transport policy is adhered to and periodically reviewed
    • To support in the purchasing of vehicles
    • Oversight and management of the vehicle tracking system and contract
    • Ongoing monitoring and reporting of driver behaviour
    • To adhere to all relevant Health & Safety policies and procedures
    • To ensure all permits, licences are obtained and in date.
    • To manage the associated Transport budgets
    • Any other tasks as directed to meet the requirements of the role and to always operate in a style that is consistent with the values and vision of Prior’s Court

    Essential Requirements

    • A current, clean driving licence without restrictions (a D1 would be a distinct advantage)
    • Ability to carry out basic vehicle maintenance
    • Ability to carry out vehicle checks
    • Experience of Managing rotas and staff management
    • Ability to manage transport systems / IT competency
    • Good geographical knowledge of the Reading, Swindon, Newbury (1hr radius of RG18 9NU)
