    About the role:

    Staff and children at Ark Blacklands would like to appoint a new Assistant SENCo to join our three-form entry primary school in the heart of Hastings. We offer a nurturing, creative and welcoming environment with high expectations for all.

    The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspirational Assistant SENCo with high expectations of themselves, their colleagues, and their pupils. The candidate will need to work in partnership with the SENCo to deliver the school’s SEND policy. The candidate will ensure provision of high-quality teaching for children with additional needs.

    Responsibilities will include liaising with the SENCo to identify children who would benefit from referrals to outside agencies (such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and specialist teachers) and complete these referrals, including carrying out screenings and assessments, assisting the SENCo in managing and monitoring provision mapping and the SEN register. To assist the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in monitoring the progress of and provision for individuals or groups of children with SEND. See Job description for full specification.
