    The Senior Technician leads a team of
    balancing technicians and performs balancing of a range of rotating components
    for the power, gas, and oil industries. Maintenance and upkeep of the balancing
    plant equipment and infrastructure is a key success factor to ensure continuity
    in providing this critical service.

    How You’ll Make an Impact

    ·       Manage
    daily operations of the balancing department, leads balancing technicians, and
    report to the Production Supervisor.

    ·       Oversee and
    take responsibility for balancing services according to international quality
    standards and EHS requirements.

    ·    Perform high
    speed balancing, low speed balancing, and overspeed testing of turbines,
    compressors, impellers, generators, gear assemblies, and related equipment.

    ·      
    Ensures adherence to defined balancing standards, guidelines,
    processes, and procedures. 

    ·       Compile and
    approve balancing reports and certificates.

    ·       Approve components
    prior to balancing ensuring all quality and safety aspects in place.

    ·       Approve
    completed components before dispatch from balancing.

    ·    Maintain the balancing plant equipment and
    infrastructure to ensure high level of reliability and availability and
    compliance with latest technologies.

    ·       Maintain
    and manage balancing equipment, including bearings, drive adapters, cardan
    shafts, probes, seals, and related components.

    ·      
    Contributes to production planning and determine
    balancing priorities to meet or exceed
    production
    schedules.    

    ·      
    Mentor and coach employees to develop across different techniques.  

    ·      
    Work together
    with different production groups to optimize throughput. 

    ·      
    Strong
    drive for continuous improvement and process improvements.  

    ·      
    Maintain
    professional housekeeping and safe working environment. 


    What You Bring
     

    Qualifications and Experience

    ·       Be in
    possession of a recognized mechanical trade certificate.

    ·      
    Grade 12 or relevant
    equivalent tertiary qualification 

    ·       Minimum
    of N6 Mechanical Engineering Diploma.

    ·       More than
    10 years’ experience in high-speed dynamic and low speed balancing procedures and
    techniques.

    o  
    Expert in the application of theory and calculations of static
    and dynamic balancing.

    o  
    Experience in balancing software, including Schenck Cabflex3 and
    CAB series measuring interfaces.

    o  
    Knowledge and understanding of international balancing standards,
    including ISO 21940-1, ISO 21940-12, and API 617.

    ·      
    Completed Supervisory, Management or Leadership Course / Certificate

    ·       Must be
    computer literate in the operating of balancing software, MS Word, Excel and SAP.

    Knowledge, Skills, and
    Abilities 

    ·      
    Experience in Dynamic Operating and Low speed balancing procedures
    & techniques

    ·      
    Strong knowledge of the
    maintenance and repair of balancing
    machines and equipment

    ·      
    Knowledge of turbo machinery, compressors, turbine rotors, gear
    assemblies, fans etc..

    ·      
    Flawless work ethic

    ·      
    Strong attention to detail

    ·      
    Customer service orientated.

    ·      
    Good people skills and work
    well within a team and can coordinate efforts with fellow colleagues  

    ·      
    Excellent communication
    skills in English, both written and
    oral 

    ·      
    Available for overtime and emergency call out.

    ·      
    Reside in the Johannesburg area with own transport to work and
    back.
